Each Sunday night at the LBA Development Lab during the month of June from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, LoneStar
Basketball Academy may offer a new and challenging competitive shooting experience called PureShooters
OpenPlayTM. Here is how it works...
- At 6:15 pm, a blank player sign-up list will be available for individuals to register for that evening's
PureShooterTM game play.
- Any individual (man, woman, girl, or boy) who wants to participate can pay $5.00 and sign-up as
a player on one of two shooting teams.
- Players will be evenly distributed with a maximum of four players on each team.
- At 6:30 pm, the first OpenPlay game will begin with team 1 competing against team 2.
- The game consists of 4 frames of 10 shots and 2 frames of 5 shots for a total of 50 shots for each player.
- During the game, players take turns shooting one frame at a time until each player on both teams has completed
the current frame.
- Play continues in this manner until all frames have been completed.
- A team score is the sum of the all that team's individual player scores and the winning team is the team
with the highest total team score.
- Be advised that each player will have a certain amount of free time between frames (which is dependent on
the number of players competing in his or her game) while waiting for the other players to complete their shots.
The following are suggestions for possible uses of this time:
- Players can practice shooting on the other basket.
- Players can train their mental decision making skills on the IntelliGym station.
- Players can read some basketball books or magazines that may be provided.
- Players can work on practicing ballhandling skills (extra balls will be available for this purpose).
- Players can utilize several strength, quickness and agility stations (TRX body weight resistance station,
med-ball core station, footwork ladder station, heavy ball ball handling station, etc).
- The game should be completed by 7:30 pm, at which time, a second game may be started if there are enough players
to compete.
- Game scores will tallied by courtside computers and the results will be posted on this site.
- PureShooter scoring averages will be tracked and posted, as well.
PureShooters OpenPlayTM is a fun way to maintain your shooting stroke
while exercising your concentration skills to maximize your shooting percentages. Also, since this is
an 'OpenPlay' format you don't have to have a shooting team to participate. Shooting teams will be
determined each week from available shooters on a first come, first serve basis and can include
boys, girls, Moms, Dads, Coaches, college players, high school players...anyone that can shoot from the Free
Throw line and beyond.
