LoneStar Basketball Academy training is based in Fort Worth, Texas, at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School.
Primary training emphasis is on the details of fundamental and advanced

and development of specialized training protocols using the Dartfish video system.

when schedule and trainer availability permit. Rates and services
are reasonable and flexible. Call 817-801-6554 or email to find out if you might

Next-Level PureShooter training...
LoneStar Basketball Academy has created a new version of the PureShooter Game called the
Next-Level PureShooter Game. This version of the game replaces spot-up shooting
with more game-like shooting. Free throws are replaced with elbow-to-elbow jump
shots, and all shots incorporate various space-creating maneuvers, such as, escape
dribbles, step-backs, shot-fakes, etc. Shooting accuracy scores are still tracked,
but additional emphasis is placed on improving footwork, increasing quickness, and
maintaining proper balance and shooting form. Watch for further details as this
program develops.

Dartfish Champion - Texas
LoneStar Basketball Academy has upgraded our Dartfish
Trainer software to the TeamPro version allowing us to apply extraordinary
video replay and analysis techniques to accelerate skill development and performance for the
serious athlete. The new Tagging capability supports game video analysis, and facilitates
production of custom game-action highlights for follow-on evaluation and review. As a Dartfish
Champion for Texas, we seek to pioneer and promote effective application of this new technology in
the field of basketball training. Check the Online Video
page for some Dartfish basketball training clips.
Pictured here is a custom Dartfish video workstation designed by Rick Allison (founder
of LoneStar Basketball Academy). It is basically a "turnkey" system with integrated
video projector and large portable on-court video screen. With two gigabyte of
RAM memory in the HP Pavilion dv9010us 1.81 GigaHertz laptop, a "live" continuous video delay greater
than 45 seconds can be attained. This allows an athlete to view his or her performance
automatically following an intensity/endurance drill while the next athlete is performing the
drill. A 200 GigaByte Firewire drive and 500 GigaByte USB/Firewire drive provide ample video storage
for capturing training session performance and hosting training reference videos.

Second Shooting Ace Joins 175 Club...
The last week of July (2005) I had the opportunity to work with young Andy Garcia in Laredo at
his dad's summer Elite Basketball Academy for select high school and D-I players.
Andy's score for the first PureShooter game was a very respectable 129, but the next
day he locked in and shot a record-tying 189 matching the previous high score
of Ed Palubinskas and becoming only the second PureShooter to join the "175 Club". Like Ed,
he missed a perfect game by one 3-point shot...attaining the highest PureShooter record
score of 189 points. The only way to get a higher score and still not shoot a perfect
game is to only miss one or two free throws. Click here to see his score.
Fundamental Skills...Missing in Action !!
Many young athletes today are so focused on playing in leagues and tournaments every
weekend that the athlete essentially has no "off-season" to develop better skills.
Some coaches are starting to notice.

Prof Blood and the Wonder Teams...
"Prof," as he was called by almost everyone, coached at Passaic High School in New Jersey
during the late teens and early 1920s. His squads were dubbed the "Wonder Teams" because
they won 159 consecutive games. All fans and conquered foes complimented his players for
their clean style of play and deportment.
