LoneStar Basketball Academy, LLC, is a year-round basketball skill development and training organization devoted to the study and advancement of state-of-the-art basketball skill training.  Through independent research study activities...application of new technologies... and, development of new specialized training programs and training aids, LoneStar Basketball Academy seeks to provide valuable resources for the serious athlete with high basketball achievement goals.

LoneStar Basketball Academy was founded in 2000 by Rick Allison.  At that time the mission statement was "to provide a year-round, rich curriculum of focused basketball skill development and education, systematically structured in a multi-year, high-quality, player development program."  A variety of unique skill training programs were developed and prototyped at different gyms around the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  A few of these include:   PureShooterTM "Competitive Shooting" training and league for players to fine-tune, measure and track their shooting accuracy and consistency...the SkyHook SchoolTM (possibly the only one of its kind in the world)...and, SweetMoves TM, based on Bernie Holowicki's "Inner City Moves" from 5-Star Basketball.  Originally these programs were planned for deployment at a large, indoor, multi-court, basketball facility that was being planned for the Metroplex.  That facility, for whatever reason, has never come to pass.

LoneStar Basketball Academy prides itself on quality instruction and attention to detail.   It is always seeking to acquire the best resources for skill development training.  LoneStar Basketball Academy can provide an on-court training equipment configuration that includes one or two Sony video cameras connected through IEEE-1394 (Firewire) to an HP Pavilion dv9010us laptop computer (with one 200 GigaByte drive and one 500 GigaByte drive) running Dartfish TeamPro video training software and feeding a large-screen projection system.  This allows the opportunity for the athlete to watch themselves executing various manuevers and to discuss the finer details of those executions with the trainer.  These video clips can be stored and reviewed at a later time if desired.

Until a dedicated training facility becomes available, LoneStar Basketball Academy will focus on personal and small group skill training.  This training will be balanced with continued research and refinement of training techniques and protocols.
